FAQs & SUPPORT

Do I need to leave my hot tub on throughout the week, when it's not really in use?

No, you don't! With SUPA Heater, you can heat your hot tub when you're ready to use it, rather than keeping it heated all week. Heating time depends on your tub's water volume, starting temperature, and outdoor conditions.

Want to know how long it could take? Read our guide:How Fast Can SUPA Heater Heat Your Hot Tub?

Can SUPA heater be used to heat pools?

SUPA Heater is designed primarily for hot tubs. We don't recommend using it for swimming pools, although smaller above-ground pools and swim spas within the specified capacity may be suitable for certain heating applications.

Learn more about suitable applications in our guide: Can SUPA Heater Work with Your Inflatable Hot Tub?

Can I sit in the hot tub whilst SUPA is heating the water?

NEVER sit in the hot tub when SUPA is operating, as the water going back into the hot tub could be as high as 149°F, which could badly scald skin if left in contact for too long. Please heat the water to 104°F (when the temperature of the water passing out of SUPA shows 149°F, it will automatically switch off and your tub will be at 104°F). Always allow the water to be circulated for 30 seconds or so to ensure the hottest water is evenly dispersed.

For setup instructions and important safety precautions, read our guide: How to Set Up and Use Your SUPA Heater

When do you recommend I use the shower fitting?

Well really, it’s up to you. We recommend you shower before using your hot tub to keep the water clean and if you want to rinse off after getting out your hot tub to rinse away chlorine. It also comes in handy if you need to wash your dog, or if you're heading out camping.

At what temperature should I set the water?

Great question – the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance advise never exceeding 104°F, and most people are most comfortable between 98°F and 100°F. Remember to always supervise children when using a hot tub — we recommend a minimum age of eight years of age, and a maximum temperature of 98°F. At these temperatures we recommend children do not exceed a total time of 10 minutes in the tub. Children under five years of age should not use the hot tub altogether, and at 104°F that time should be a maximum of 5 minutes.

How does SUPA heater handle heavy usage in commercial environments?

SUPA is built to last and uses high-quality components throughout. Whether you are heating water through recirculation in Mode 1 or where a direct hot tub fill straight from the mains is being adopted in Mode 2, both the heater and the pump have been designed to offer 90 minutes of continuous use before needing a short 15-minute rest break between cycles, allowing the pump motor to cool and to ensure the heater is not left to run indefinitely when unobserved by accident. Typical short operating cycles of around 60 minutes, sufficient to heat a 4-person hot tub (allowing 66 gallons per user) from 68°F to 100°F, can be achieved multiple times during a turnover for vacation rentals from a single SUPA.

Can I use the SUPA heater to clean my hot tubs?

Absolutely, you can use the benefits of hot water cleaning to get your tubs gleaming! In Mode 2, just attach your garden hose to the front of the pump using a standard quick-connect fitting and attach our shower head or a pressure washer using the fast fitting on the outlet of the red ‘hot’ hose. Set the temperature you want in Mode 2 (typically below 104°F for pressure washers) and turn on the water — and there it is, instant hot water to help melt any grime away ensuring your hot tubs stay squeaky clean and inviting for each new guest.

Also, try using a pressure-washer with hot water to remove slippery moss from wood decking and pavers – it does the job to perfection! Or try melting snow and ice on slippery paths before using rock salt to ensure it doesn’t freeze over again, SUPA can really help in all sorts of previously unheard of ways.

How does SUPA streamline turnover days?

A SUPA heater simplifies your turnover days by swiftly heating your hot tubs in around an hour, the kind of thing only large RV resorts and campgrounds could manage, with commercial boilers and hot water on tap. SUPA allows you and your team, however small, to efficiently prepare tubs for the next guests, reducing downtime and ensuring a warm and welcoming experience for arriving visitors every time.

After all the effort you put in as owners, getting the accommodation perfect for every arrival, SUPA heater ensures they enjoy a ‘hot’ tub and not just a ‘warm’ tub at check-in, helping you to retain those hard-earned 4 and 5-star ratings you and your team have worked long and hard for.

For those of you with wood-fired hot tubs, its even better as you do not have to keep refilling the wood burner every 20 minutes for up to 4 hrs per turnover day, saving you a tremendous amount of time to do something more productive or relaxing!

And finally, SUPA quick turnovers allow you to get more occupancy, renting when you wouldn’t normally be able to due to time constraints and maximizing revenue from your assets.
